Who are Scrivens Hearing Care?
Scrivens Hearing Care (formerly The Hearing Company) is part of the Scrivens Optical Group, which was founded in 1938 and started retailing hearing aids in the 1950s. We are one of the UK’s leading High Street retailers of hearing aids providing hearing tests and digital hearing aids from over 300 outlets nationwide including Scrivens Opticians and other independent opticians, health and medical centres and pharmacies, as well as working with a number of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across the country providing NHS hearing aids.
Our main priority is customer care and we are proud of the level of personal service we offer to all our customers.
We fully understand how daunting it can be for people facing up to hearing loss and our years of experience have allowed us to develop a system of high quality professional hearing care to ensure we can meet the exact needs of our customers.
All our services are carried out by qualified Hearing Aid Audiologists, who are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). We conduct ongoing training and a development programme to ensure their skills remain at the highest level at all times.
NHS Hearing Aids provided by Scrivens Hearing Care
More people than ever can now access free NHS hearing aids on the high street thanks to a new service being offered by Scrivens Hearing Care.
The service has been made possible after a large number of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) accredited the Company to deliver NHS hearing assessments on their behalf. This includes the hearing test, fitting and supply of digital hearing aids, batteries and aftercare, all free of charge to the patient.
Guaranteed to reduce waiting times and deliver a more accessible and flexible service for the local community, the new provision is a result of changes in Government rules that enables Scrivens Hearing Care to work alongside GPs to give more choice to patients.
This service is a huge benefit to NHS patients, improving care locally and offering more choice, with appointments at times to suit patients’ lifestyles. With people now able to choose which hearing aid supplier they are referred to by their GP, hearing care is simpler, faster, more convenient and easier to access – a positive outcome for both the patient and the NHS.

As part of our contract with the NHS we must provide all our patients with the opportunity to provide us with feedback about the service they receive. We are pleased to report that 90% of NHS hearing patients rated our overall service as very good or excellent and 93% reported that they would recommend our service to a friend or family member.
